Korean Green Onion Pancake

A few years ago, I lived in Korea as an exchange student. I ate so many interesting and delicious dishes while I was there and I definitely still have a few favorites that I go back to. When my husband and I went to Korea again for our honeymoon, I made sure to have him try Pajeon.

In the Pan

Green Onion Pancakes

  • 2/3 cup flour
  • 1/2 cup rice flour
  • 2 tablespoons cornstarch
  • 2 bunches green onions, cut in 2″ chunks
  • 1/2 cup water (add more as needed)
  • 1 egg
  • 1 teaspoon soy sauce
  • Pinch of Salt
  • Note: Depending on availability, you can use fermented soy paste in this recipe instead of soy sauce.

Mix all dry ingredients together and create a well in the middle to add the egg, water and soy sauce. Fold in green onions.

Heat a saucepan over medium heat with a couple tablespoons of oil. Add batter, making sure to keep green onions together. It will be easiest to cook if all of the green onions are facing the same way.

Before Cooking

Cook on low heat and flip when golden. Enjoy!
